Problem with new trackball...
I've just bought a second-hand trackball, and whilst it works fine, there is one small issue. When using the trackball in Windows 10, the speed at which the pointer moves across the screen is very slow. I've turned up the tracking speed of the pointer in the Windows mouse settings to the maximum, but it's still way too slow; I'm having to move the trackball way too much to move the pointer from one side of the screen to the other. I guess this means the DPI of the trackball is quite low? My monitor is running at 2560x1440. Does anyone know of any third-party software that could speed up the pointer movement further than the Windows mouse settings allows? Or is there a registry setting I can tweak to have the same affect? Any help would be much appreciated!
Re: Problem with new trackball...
Could there be dust inside, messing up the sensitivity? I remember this being a problem in ones I've owned in the past.
I found this http://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/X...tonControl.htm it may help.

I don't think there's any dust or other problem with the trackball - although it's second-hand, it looks pretty much unused, and was still in its original packaging.

No worries I hope it helps.
Re: Problem with new trackball...
What make is it? Newer drivers? (long shot)
Re: Problem with new trackball...
It's an Apem (formerly CH Products) DT225 trackball. I've been using the same type of trackball for about 20 years now, and as far as I'm aware, they don't have any driver software - they just use the Windows default driver.

I did say it was a long shot :p
I did find this
https://www.mouser.co.uk/datasheet/2...all-604370.pdf (which you might already have)
so you can determine what the resolution is from the part number
Re: Problem with new trackball...
You can go beyond the windows limitations for tracking speed by adjusting the registry:

Feels like a bit of a bodge though, and not the root cause of the issue.
Re: Problem with new trackball...
Well, long shots sometimes pay off! :)
Thanks for that, yes I've got that data sheet. Unfortunately the trackball doesn't seem to have any part number written on it anywhere, so I'm not sure which model I've got, other than the fact that it's a PS/2 interface model.

I think the root cause of the issue is that the trackball is probably a low resolution version of the trackball (maybe 200 dpi), and I'm using it on quite a high resolution monitor (2560x1440), so it just takes a lot of rolls of the trackball to move the pointer from one side of the screen to the other. I have another DT225 that I'm using right now, which is the 700 dpi model, & the movement of the pointer is much better (although I do still need to have the Windows mouse setup on maximum speed).
