PC 'Forgetting' boot drive
Build in sig.
Hi Folks, recently upgraded to Ryzen. I have noticed that every now and then the pc with fail to boot say BOOTMGR (Or similar) is missing.
When I go into the BIOS I notice that my boot drive has dropped down to third on the list. I reset it to number 1, save and reboot. All okay.
Sometimes it will be fine for a few weeks, sometimes barely a day and then it happens again.
Any ideas? I am running the latest drivers and BIOS version from Gigabyte.
It's not the end of the world, but it's very annoying!
Re: PC 'Forgetting' boot drive
If we are talking about a SATA drive make sure it is plugged into the SATA0 port (top left I believe) on the motherboard. If it keeps on happening anyway I would replace the SATA cable and may be try another drive.
If you are booting from a m.2 SSD I would reseat the drive and try another one if the problem persists.
Does the UEFI show the correct date/time every time this happens?
Re: PC 'Forgetting' boot drive
Yes. correct date and time shows etc. I will check SATA cable and motherboard slot.
