    Eye strain

Other than buying a new monitor and assuming the settings are correct, does anyone have any tips on reducing eye strain for me at work

    Thx.

say to the health and safety person in work see if they can do anything for you
make sure refresh rate on the monitor is above 75hz
sit about a metre or so away from the monitor
have the top of the monitor at eye level
make sure there are no lights reflecting on the screen causing glare
    go to the optitians
make sure the screen is clean
every 10 mins or so look away from the screen and focus on something far away

If your work involves looking at a screen then your employer must pay for you to have annual eye tests.

luap has given good advice. Focus on distant objects at regular intervals to exercise the eye muscles.

What type of monitor is it? LCD or CRT?

Lcd's can have different modes depending on what you are doing, such as text and such which make it softer on the eyes.

Thanks peeps ^It's CRT^. I have glare from lights behind me however I can't turn these off. I guess I'll have a trip soon to the opticians and see if they have somthing to reduce my discomfort.

    Cheers

Stick a glare filter on your CRT.
