Bt Sport shuts down my pc

    Hello again my Techie friends,

Not sure if you can help me with this but I thought I'd see what your views were.

When I am watching BT Sport, streaming to my PC (legally) in google chrome browser, it plays for 30-45 minutes then my PC shuts down, just like it has been unplugged. I know that having a pc shut down like this is not desirable and so I am trying to solve this mystery.

It happened 2 weeks ago whilst watching the MotoGP, twice. Since then I have not watched BTSport or used google chrome browser and my pc has been running fine, then today, I was watching MotoGP and it just happened again.

Hoping you can shed some light on this problem.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place or if this is topic is not what you deal with.

Sorry can't help you with the problem solving part, but have you tried using the BT Sport App for windows? See if the same happens with that.

have you looked at the power settings of your pc? if its left idle so no key presses or mouse movements are detected it may shut itself down..

I wonder if it overheating - streaming and displaying video can be processor/system intensive.

Re: Bt Sport shuts down my pc

Thank you all for taking the time to reply.

Looks like peterb could be correct, same thing happened again on Sunday during the race. When I booted up the system after it had shut down I decided to watch something on youtube and the picture froze and I had a message about display driver had stopped working, I lost all my icons in the taskbar for a few moments then it all came back.

The processor has the graphics built in, so maybe the streaming is overheating it. I will clean it up and re-seat it with fresh thermal paste and see if that helps.

Also, will look into using the BTSport app.
