Question K8N Neo and extra USB2 and Front USB2 not working. Help!

    Hi,
My MoBo K8N Neo works ok, but I have the problem that both my extra USB2 bracket at the back and the Front USB2 connections(of the Antec Sonata) are not working. The USB2 direct on the mainboard do work. The firewire and sound on the front of the Sonata case do work.

We have 3 PC's with the same config that have this problem. We have Windows XP on it.

Is this a known problem or has anyone suggestions how to get these USB2 ports working? Help!

...this may be a stupid question, in which case ignore, but have you wired them up correctlly? The other thing is to check in the BIOS for any options that enable USB facilities...hope this helps.

My brother has the same problem with his K8N neo2 platinum, and from scouring the internet i have found it is a very common problems with these models

Not worth RMAing it, as it would probably cost you a tenner (per motherboard) to do that, your better off just buying a PCI USB2 card with an extra connection to plug your front USB's into.

Some of his USB sockets do work o.k., but the others turn on and off and you find you have to move them to another socket to get them to work, but then next time you turn on the pc it isnt working again

Or you could try a bios upgrade that might help
(System cannot resume from S3 sometimes when install USB device.)

hmmmm.... so we buy all new stuff and need to buy other USB2 cards... that wouldn't make sense...

maybe we should contact K8N producer to see what their remarks are... otherwise they have a lot of sad users.
Anyone tried that or has the info of the producer/contact? (pref. NL or Europe at least)
    Thanks for the tip btw

No problem kingh, you could email MSI themselves at there u.k. address and see what they say.

But as for my brother's motherbaord it's not worth it really, but as you have three motherboards with the same problem it' may be worth a shot i suppose.

This looks like the best email address to use
    sales@msicomputer.co.uk

P.S. put it this way i'll not be buying MSI again.

Yeah, I have the same feeling....

I posted this in a NL forum too....

they send me the SONATA website with pictures of how to change the wires.... http://www.antec-inc.com/specs/ezusb.html
I might try it in a few days when I have time to carefully read it.

If you need translations, let me know.
If you tried it, let me know too!
