    Unhappy nasty windows problem...

hey guys, basically my mates pc is fooked, it started when he put a new gfx card into it, and when he started it (windows 2000 pro) it blue screened, tryed safemode blue screen again, so he removed the card and went back to the old one, this time windows started but when he logs into hisaccount an error message pops up:

its titled userinit.exe and it says that the file IMM32.dll wasnt found in d:/winnt/sys32

tried safe mode, still the same thing (basically all u can do is click ok then ur just left with the wallpaper and nothing else)

tried last known good config, still no good

i was hoping that maybe i could get the missing file from the windows cd but as i cant get into windows anyway i dont know how else i could replace the file, formattings not an option as it contains all of his college work so fixing the prob or rescuing the work is the only way

    thanx a lot guys

Its very well worth downloading a copy of "The Ultimate Boot CD" from here:
    http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
Burn this to CD as an ISO image. This will then allow you to boot your problematic computer and, using the utilities included, hopefully help to find out what the trouble is.

You should be able to use the recovery console from the windows 2000 cd to repair windows.

Set bios to boot from cd, insert windows cd and reboot. Follow the instructions to get to repair windows using recovery console.
