Wireless home networking drama (AGAIN!)

Hello guys and girls, I am having a slight problem over here in sunny Germany. I have a 1mb T-online broadband connection which I want to network wirelessly. My current modem is an ADSL Teledat 300 LAN with ethernet connections via the standard splitter. In the UK a couple of months ago, I bought a Belkin 54g wireless modem and router (combined), only to dicover on my return to Germany, that it had a UK telephone socket input (i.e. RJ11 connection) which won't couple to the ethernet (RJ45) connections.

I then went and bought a Belkin wireless router in Germany, (very low price in Media Markt!), but can't seem to get the little tinker to communicate with the Teledat 300 modem. Tries to connect to the Internet up to 10 times, but oesn't recognise any connection. I have changed all the cables, e.t.c. to no avail. Teledat modem works fine on it's own.

Belkin sent me a RJ45 coupler (free of charge, fair play to them) in an attempt to make the modem/router work, negating the need for the Teledat modem, but was not what I asked them for, so I am at a loss.

Anyone got any suggestions? (Why won't the router connect/Where can I get an adapter/what am I doing wrong/Why do I deserve this????)

When you log on to the router's management system, can you get it to display a list of connected devices?

If so, does it list the modem as a connected device?

No, doesn't show bu**er all! It just freezes after it asked "did your ISP provide you with a fixed IP address?" I answer "no" and it locks solid, have to reboot the lot.

does the belkin router support PPPoE connections ?

It says it does, a screen comes up showing PPPoE as an option

You could use the belkin as a pure access point ( ie just connect it to the same switch that your DSL modem is connected ? ) if you really wanted to you coudl use the DHCP server on the belkin device to hand out IPs as long as you disable any other DHCP servers on the LAN. Ive not have much luck combining single port ethernet DSL modems ( note I havn't said router here ) with any other device , even if its a pure ethernet router.

Now you are just trying to confuse me!! Could you please explain, I have limited knowledge (in most things....)
