Exclamation Problem with Firefox 77.0.1 update.. and beyond

Have just updated to FF 77.0.1 and I now just have screensful of some sort of unicody looking gibberish - I'm not finding that anyone has posted on the same issue on the wider net, just some similar older issues that don't seem applicable - any help appreciated. All sites btw, aside of the firefox congratulations/what's new page. (edit: not all sites actually, there are a v few normal or partially normal ones.)

I notice you are viewing general discussion and see gibberish, isn't that normal?

On a side note I have that version and don't see that issue, maybe a incompatible plugin?

I have had that previously and found a restart fixed it.

I've disabled everything, which isn't a lot anyway, except firefox multi-account containers.. I'd rather not turn that off as it would play havoc with the tab set I have currently open but it depends how much of a likelihood it is.

Re: Problem with Firefox 77.0.1 update

    77.0 here, and no issues.

I think I'll hold off on the .0.1 update for a bit.

Oh, thinking about it, I've had the occasional page come up like that, but a refresh cures it. I tracked the issue to dodgy 2.4Ghz WiFi transmission on the router occasionally dropping out. I doubt that helps much.

Typically I'll hang off updating if I'm in the middle of a few things.. usually a fair few clicks of the Not Now before I get to it.. but this one time (of course)

I doubt it's a WiFi issue too, as it's every page.

Not a dire emergency ofc as I can get by, but using another browser is a bit of a nause.

Does it happen in incognito/private window mode?

Oh, tell me about it. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt and I think I wrote the book.

Devastatingly dangerous proposition, that .... this one time.

    I feel for you.

    You could rollback : https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/

But read the warnings here before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...ion-of-firefox

Re: Problem with Firefox 77.0.1 update

Yeees.. any time I've considered it for other past reasons it never sounds like a goer so maybe last resort. And then what (unless updating to the next, next update would fix it maybe).

Suppose a bit more tinkering eg a reinstall &c is in order, just so I can tick off that I've tried it. Groan.

Re: Problem with Firefox 77.0.1 update

update: before anything too drastic I've started a double check to see if it is indeed every site, of the tabs I currently have open/re-opened, and (so far) have found 1 site that displays normally, https://airmail.news/issues/2020-6-6 including navigating to other pages; 1 site where pages display part ok part not https://www.kaltblut-magazine.com/ex...pe-venturelli/ and I can see my Ikea shopping bag but navigating away to other pages is no go.

Have you tried disabling all addons for the time being? I tried those sites and they all work fine for me, the addons I have are

    ublock origin
    https everywhere

Re: Problem with Firefox 77.0.1 update

Yes, only multi-account containers is on and anyway that doesn't run in incognito and incognito is no better so..
Can add Imgur to the ok list. (I'm assuming any site I mention will be fine for anyone else - it's why these few ones are ok for me I have no idea about.)

Think at this stage, rolling back to the version before might be the option to go for
