    Re: Killed My USB Drive

If it had been a USB hard drive, I would have suggested surgical intervention. I have had success doing that, where the drive itself was just fine but the USB interface seemed foobar'd. Take the drive out and connect it conventionally and they were fine.

    But it wasn't, so ....

Sounds like the flash controller is fried.

Take it you have tried a different USB stick in the same USB port.

Yes, other sticks work in the port. The USB port being used was one of the front ones, maybe got an electrical surge as the computer was powered off?

Its now in the bin, how you get into those things is beyond me, I had a feeling I did something wrong when I pulled my screwdriver out and a few resistors were on the end of it

    Re: Killed My USB Drive

I had a similar problem with my Sandisk USB pendrive; it wouldn't even recognized the usb drive when plugged in. To get the data off it, i opened up the pen drive, used a air duster duster, inverted it and blasted it on the controller; managed to get most of the data before it conked out.
