    Outlook Oddness

So this started today, using Outlook 2016 and when I open an email there is the first few words then the rest is blank.

If I try composing an email, everytime I press enter the line I have just typed dissapears.

Anyone have a clue what is going on or anything I can try? So far I have :

Run outlook repair both online and offline
    Uninstalled and reinstalled outlook
    Run the sfc
Turned hardware acceleration off in outlook
    Turned off css in emails
    Disabled all add ons
    Run in outlook safe mode
    Have ran scanpst

And probably a few other things, nothing is working. I know the PST is ok as I have imported it into em client and everything shows fine.

    Re: Outlook Oddness

I wonder if something is wrong with IE. I'm assuming that it still uses that as it's base for HTML based E-Mails.

Check if the other Email types are the same i.e. Plain Text and RTF.

Temp workaround for anyone in the same situation, run this :

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\officec2rclient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.13901.20462

Has restored my ability to view emails, god knows how long it will last for

    Re: Outlook Oddness

Ive been having trouble with Outlook for a while now and finally dumped it recently in favour of Thunderbird, which is fast and does everything I need

    Re: Outlook Oddness

I did try Thunderbird a long time ago but didn't like the look of it, however looking just now seems they have updated it since I last used it. Might give it another go.

I was using EM Client which was pretty good, I was using the Pro version but the rules were a bit of a mess and the way folders were arranged I couldn't get on with.

Outlook I use was bought outright so I don't need a monthly sub or anything but am looking for alternatives.

    Re: Outlook Oddness

Thunderbird reminds me of Outlook Express, simple and to the point. Something Microsoft just can't do any more.

Can recommend it as well, but it may take a little getting used to. Though we don't use any advanced features so couldn't comment on that. We deploy it to our smaller customers where domain management is out of the question and licensing Office products individually is a complete headache.
All seems to work well, no complaints from non techie users.

    Re: Outlook Oddness

Well, this just happened to an Excel Worksheet I was working on. When I cut a column and pasted, the content blanked out. Glad I read this thread first, otherwise I'd be baffled! Wonder how long it'll take someone else at my work to notice this.

I mean, I assume this is the same problem and not something to do with my laptop.
