    Cant install windows, help!

i upgraded my motherboard from a asus a7n8x del to a dfi infinity nf2. Using everything else the same, CPU hdd etc

When I installed the new mobo, i tried to install win xp again, but cant, i can boot from the cd to the blue screen, but it loads everything up, but i never get the options to install, and it resets itself.

I use a sata hdd so I have to install the drivers, but not sure if doing right. Once i install them in the blue screen it says starting windows at the bottom, and just hangs for a moment, then restarts.

I then tried using the sata silicon utility, which comes after the boot screen, formatted the hdd, nothing changed.

Please help. Is it to do with my bios, which is modified or something else

Have you checked in the bios & made sure all your drives are recognised?

Do you hit F6 to install third party sata driver?
    d'oh, shoulda read that.

Strange that it formats the drive & doesn't continue with install.

i formated in the satautility. not in the windows install.

after i hit F6 and install the disk driver for sata. it loads them, and then restarts, just before i should get the options to do repair new install etc

I've had serious windows install problems with a DFI board as well. My mobo just refuses to allow booting from the CD drive (yes, the cd drive works) and i still havn't found a solution in 3 months

Is your SATA drive set to IDE or RAID in your BIOS. In my mobo BIOS I can specify how the drive will appear to an OS. If it's a single drive then you should set it to IDE (assuming you're using a single SATA drive in your system) and Windows should not need any third party drivers. My BIOS defaults to RAID for the SATA channels.
