How strong is your Google-fu?!
I've been searching for 4 gang trailing extension power socket, which is individually switched, & has an additional fuse built into it. The power socket is to go in the cupboard under my stairs, and will be wired straight into a mains spur box. So the additional fuse is fairly important safety-wise. It also needs to be wall mountable. 'Nice to have' but non-essential facilities are surge-protection & built-in USB sockets.
The closest I found so far is this:

The little red rectangle near cable entry point is the fuse (if you didn't realise). As you can see though, this one isn't individually switched. Can anyone with better Google skills than me find one that fits my needs? I'd be very grateful, although at this point, I'm not entirely sure such a thing exists!

Couldn't find any! Thought it would be easier than that.
Can you not install the extension you mentioned then just plug a normal switched extension lead into that? Or does that defeat the purpose?

Yes that could be done...but it wouldn't be very neat! :undecided
Thanks for having a look though - I'm glad it wasn't my search skills that were the problem!

No I looked everywhere, Farnell, Screwfix, Amazon etc. I knew what you wanted but couldn't see any switched ones.
Re: How strong is your Google-fu?!
Could you use ordinary wall plug sockets with backing box?
Re: How strong is your Google-fu?!
I would use the last suggestion, back bxes and twin gang socket switched panels, a bit more expensive but much better solution in my book.

works out at £1-50 ish per socket, plus your odd bit of timber as backboard

I hunted for more-or-less what MrJim was asking for several years ago. THe previous time I needed one, you didn't seem to be able to go into a supermarket, never mind hardware store, without tripping over them but last time? Nada. Or at least, not that didnt look like utter junk.
So I ended up doing that, with about 15" of board, three double back boxes and three individually switched double sockets (I needed 6, not 4, obviously). It wasn't expensive and I reckon it took less time to knock it up than I'd sent unsuccessfully hunting for a pre-made job. I mean, they must be out there. Somewhere. But I no longer bother. I have a few more double sockets, including 2x USB chargers, sitting downstairs right now, ready to make a few upgrades to my home-office wiring.

this of any use?

doesn't have the trailing lead, but cant you just use whatever length of mains wire to go from spur box to this?
plus each switch is fused.
