Question Boot problem with Slave hd pluged in

Hey again, yes another problem with my pc.

My BSOD where cured by instaling sp2 so it seems, heres that thread.
Anyway now my pc wont boot when my slave hd is pluged in. my Master hd is a 120gb sata hd, and the slave is a 80gb ata hd on its own ide cable, its jumpers are set to slave as i have been runing the set up for a while, just after instaling sp2 i cant boot into windows with it pluged in.

What happens is the windows loadin screen comes up as its booting, then when the xp login screen is sopose to come up, all i get is a black screen then the monitor goes into standbye rly odd, tryd typin the pw out and hiting enter and lissend for the xp login music, but nothing so its not gfx its somin gayer...

only way i got it to boot up was to unplug the slave hd from the mobo, then it booted fine, alough the modem drivers wernt instaled :S so had to redo that.

Any help would be lovly, as all my work etc is on that hd and i kinda need to access it lol

im guessing it was plugged in and worked fine before you installed sp2...

it doesnt matter that the IDE harddrive is set to slave, but double check in your bios (hit DEL when the computer first displays anything) that you are attempting to boot from the SATA drive first... if you had a copy of xp installed on the IDE drive it might be trying to load that instead.. but i dont really know whats up past that

If the second hard drive is on its own IDE cable, it should be Master. I doubt it will make any difference, but it's worth a shot.

Yeah it workin fine before sp2, wonderd if its somin sp2 has done to some seting, and i thought any hd that wasnt the boot one was a slave, not just if they share a ide cable so thats cool to know.

hmm well ill plug the bugger in now and check the boot priority.
