    Trawling around a friends dead pc hd and look what I find.

    A file called ".stop_prc160.cmd"

    which contains :

    @echo off
    rem
    rem
    sdrcNTkill 168

    Googling didn't help find out what sdrcNTkill 168 does, but it doesnt sound good.

    Basically his system is borked, it won't even boot anymore so its going to the scrap heap in the sky. But this did intrigue me, anyone more knowledgeable have any clues?

    I did a search for sdrcNTkill on google and found only 1 items.. (it's spanish , french or some anti social language )

    Anyway as you said their aint much info on it

    From the looks of the batch file all it's doing is executing a command to kill a particual process/task... for the basic info on, the sdrcNTkill is probably someone's own app used to kill apps.. ie with a list of all the apps relating to numbers so if i say set 1 to explorer.exe and ran:

    sdrcNTkill 1

    it would kill off explorer.exe

    As there aint much info around this i would be tempted to look on the guys harddrive for sdrcNTkill (it might be hidden, and also could be an exe or dll (or possibly something more random)..

    And when you say his computer won't boot.. what do you mean?
    That is won't load windows, when you turn it on it does get passed the BIOS post tests? If it's only windows that won't load there's always the option to re-install windows.. (a clean fresh install)... let us know how it goes anyway..

    Won't even post.

    Unfortunately since the motherboard was dead (old machine), he wanted the system back and was just going to buy a new one since I copied the Uni work from it.

    Which is a damn shame, as this was at least something different from the run of the mill problems I get landed with and I had wanted to to investigate further.
