Serious Problems
Hi, I am having alot problems with my computer and for the life of me can't understand whats wrong. Basically every so often the computer will restart itself regardless of what i'm doing, I may be playing a game or writing a word document or whatever and it will just restart. My graphics constantly fails cause lock ups and problems with alot of games. Spefically with HL 2 and Out of Reference type errors. Everything is at stock speeds and everything has adaquate cooling. Ive tried updating all my drivers, tried updating all motherboard related things, tried formatting starting afresh but still the problem gets worse. Everything it reboots Microsoft error report comes up with saying something like
Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078)
or/and Error Caused By A Device Driver / Error Caused by Graphics Device Driver
I think it may be down to my AGP being set wrong but no matter what I do, it resets to 0 with Fastwrite off. I used to have a problem like this when I had 3.4 Catalysts, simply setting my AGP 4x fixed it, but no matter what I do now, it wont. A friend suggested updating my BIOS, but I don't have a floppy drive or understand how to create a boot disk.
Any help at all will be most apprecated speifcally getting my AGP correct.
MY specs
Windows XP Home Sp2
AMD 2400+ (@2.0)
WD 80GB HD
Hercules 9800SE 128mb
MSI Kt4VL
Muse 5.1 Soundcard
768mb Ram (DDR)
Thanks - email me at jambo17@gmail.com for any tips.

Do you know what PSU you have in your system?

If I were you I'd run driver cleaner on my system then re-install the latest cats and see if it fixes it http://www.drivercleaner.net/ if your still getting it after may point to something bit more serious

Thanks but to no avail, I'm not sure of my PSU all I know its a 300Watt

After it crashes send a error report. When mine suffered from a similar error the error repoting thing took me to an update page. Also check for windows / graphics driver updates.
-
Sent the error report dozens of times and It always tell's me to Disable my graphics driver, which isn't really a suitable fix and also I don't have the money to fork out for a new card. And the drivers are upated to the lastest 5.4's (ATI - non modifed) and my windows is upto date

MSI KT4 will run at 8x AGP. Reset your overclock back to stock. Turn fastwrites and VPU recover off. Try running Omega drivers.
