audigy 2 ZS OEM - work without software disk?

    Hi

Just taken delivery of an OEM Audigy 2 ZS sound card. Perhaps, rather nievely, I expected to download all the drivers etc from creative - it didnt come with a disk. I have the drivers from creatives support site, no problems, but I cannot find the additional software tools - I kind of expected them to be availble also from creative.

Question is will the card function ok without this extra bundled software? Can I set up my surround sound speakers (creative T7900 7.1) without these extra tools? Anyone know before I bother installing the card?

Here's what I do - download the update application packages from creative's website. Install WinRAR if not already installed. Right click on application packages, extract the contents, then run the setup file within the extracted files. You'll find the setup package doesnt care about their presence really.

In the mean time, you can just use the control panel in Windoze to set it to 7.1 mode.

I'd like to get hold of the package with the extra software but the file is no longer there. Anyone have a copy?

I would not bother. The media player etc are a waste of time. As long as the card is running properley and you have the diagnostics and EAX/speaker config programs, you will find better applications for free anyway.

All completely academic as it turns out, the card is not working correctly, unable to allocate enough resource.... Bugger.
