    Unhappy Had just about enough of this

    internet is dog slow, browser takes ages to load, loads of warnings from Sygate firewall about svchost being blocked,

    I clickto take a look in my main drive and I see all these programs sitting there

    Now i've updated AVG and run it 5 times, spybot, adaware, windows update (apart from that service pack 2 garbage)

    Nothing.

    Here's my task manager

    Someone give me a clue what the hell is going on

    Have you updated your virus definitions before running a scan?

    That first image should of sparked the alarm bells straight off. You either have a worm or a virus, since when did you ever see applications called lololj and ha5 I would try running something other than AVG as I think it's missing something or they don't have a definition file that has the sigs for the latest and greatest.

    svhost is Windows way of handling mass processes. It's not unusual to see 3 - 4 running at a time but then again its been known for viruses to attach to them in order to get to as many processes as possible.

    All I can say is try to get hold of another AV app or try the free scans from the Sophos page (sorry dont have the link at hand)

    "ehtray.exe is a process is the tray bar process for the Microsoft Media Center. It gives you easy access to the digital media manager. This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling this is down to user preference."

    you aint gonna like it but...

    backup -> format -> reload

    and after a fresh install, lob on spybot, spywareblaster ,sp2 , and Norton antivirus - it may hog a few more resources but it works!!!!!
