XP Pro / XP Home - Logical / Physical Processors

Seem to have lost my XP Pro disc so I think I may have to install XP Home. Just a little confused.. due to HT my processor comes up as 2 Logical processors and I'm not too sure if Home supports this? Perhaps I could be wrong and it's 2 physical processors that it does not support.

Would rather now first than finding out after I install.

    Thanks for any help

Also is there many advantages / disadvantages of Home to Pro as I could hold out a few days till I can get another copy of Pro.

Nah, it's fine, Home supports Hyperthreading. You only need Pro if you have two physical processors. I assume that this means Home will also work with Dual Core chips, although I'm not sure.

As for the other differences between Home and Pro, I have no idea.

basically it stems down to a few remote tools, admin stuff and multilanguage gubbins

I'm sure Home doesn't include remote desktop capability, and there are definitely some other things about the way it handles users as well, but as for what they are I don't know.

windows xp is licensed per-socket, as of SP1 (i think).

so home will do dual core fine.

FYI Home does not support Domains making it unsuitable for company networks with proper Domain control setup.
