    network setup not working

not used my laptop for a while and when I booted up, my network settings had disappeared. Didn't worry too much as thought I would just run the network setup wizard. Try to run it and nothing. It refuses to run. ran systemworks and it detected no problems. Any ideas?
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

have a router with 2 pcs connected to it. Nothing shows in network connections on laptop(as if no network has yet been set up). Just annoys me that I Can't get the wizard to run.

If its showign the cable as unpluged, the its a problem with your lead/card. Even if the ip's are messed up it should still show as conected. Is the activity light on on the network card?
