Asus a8n chipset fan death.

I have a major amount of downloading to do but can only do so if I babysit my system thanks to the irregular and random dieing of my chipset fan. I find that shutting down manually then firmly pressing the fan into the motherboard fixes the problem temporarily. Its only started happening fairly recently; I presume that the fan has just become loose over the months of use. I can try and look into it more when I have the time but at the moment. an auto shutdown for when it occurs would be useful.

The system monitor knows when it breaks down, but does nothing other than emit a weak beeping noise, a tad useless. So the main question: Is there a utility, or do I have one already that I dont know about that will shut down the computer should the likely scenario occur so I can leave my comp running without worrying about my pc reducing itself to dust?

Look in the BIOS - there might be an option for it in there.

Hey all, thanks for speedy replies
First off I scoped the bios, Mike, and unfortunately all I can do is control fan speeds

so this leads me to asking for a replacement as Ben suggests and just forgetting about the lack of an autoshutdown

Alternatively, go to your local computer shop and ask if they have any old K6 coolers. I got a bag full of them from my local shop and I'm going to put one on after my exam tomorrow.
