i just phoned scan about it, the guy said i could send it in but if there was no faults found on it they would charge me about £20 for it. He also said i could get a refund but they would need 25% for restocking fees or whatever... Im wondering whether this is just typical maxtor drives, i dont want to send it in faulty and find out its not broken, nor to replace it with another loud harddrive.

    my options are:
1.get a 75% refund and get a nice seagate one
2.send it in as faulty hardware, if it is faulty i get a full refund or if it isnt i have to pay them £20 just to have it back

my harddrive was a 200gig maxtor plus 10 worth £60.
    i need some help guys
