    CPU Fan Warning

    RIGHTY HO!!

Just built my PC, it is the dogs balls!

    LoL!

Only problem is, that when I turn it on, and it POSTs, i get a message saying that the CPU fan is not working properly, and is too slow! I go into the BIOS and it says that its running around 2200RPM. My warning threshold is 1200RPM!!

    Any ideas anyone?!?

    Spec:
    Asus A8N Sli Standard
    AMD 3500+ Venice
    XFX 7800GT
    Samsung Spinpoint 200GB SATA II
    1Gb Corsair TwinX 3200 C2

    Any ideas?!?!?

    Thanks in anticipation!

Presuming it's plugged into the right header, does the BIOS give you the option to turn off CPU fan sensing?

Might be that the software is slow detecting the speed - I get a similar problem with Asus's monitoring software when windows starts - it takes about 5 seconds before the warning goes. Are you using Asus monitoring software? If you are, what does that say?

Right, just moved into Uni and I dont have the net yet, so I'm using a friends pc! Basically, I turn it on, and it Beeps at me during POST. At that EXACT point, the CPU fan stops. This happens 3 times, then on the 4th time, it starts no prob. Now please, if this aint weird, tell me what is (dont actually).

I thought it was a prob with the fan, but now im not so sure. Its a pain in the arse, cos I have to keep restarting it before it POSTS and fires up correctly.

    Many thanks in anticipation!!!!

How many beeps are you getting on post? Just the one "all is ok" beep or a series of them? It sounds like your mobo is shutting down the pc to protect the cpu. This is strangly familiar to me as I think this happened with my bro's system and it was a fan fail alarm caused by not having the cpu fan connected properly.

I just get the one beep! The front case fan goes out momentarily also. Its strange, because on the 3rd press of the reset button, it fires up fine! This is really weird, and its a pain in the proverbial, having to press the reset button!

I dont think its the fan connection to the mobo, as it seems to work eventually!

Another smaller problem is that the Asus Probe software "appears" to be quite unstable, giving out strange readings. It maybe that the readings ARE strange, but its a little odd thats all.

Many thanks in anticipation for any help, its quite urgent!!!!!!
