Digital Camera (Data transfer, 496mb)

Howdy,
I recorded a video on my digital camera, in total it's 496mb. Basicly I want to get it off my SD card and onto my computer, I can do that, just drag and drop, but since the video is bigger than usual (longer, never recorded a video this long before on it), half way through transferring it says the file can't be found and if I browse to the SD card via the camera the file isn't there, so I need to unplug then replug the camera again for it to work.

Now, I think there MAY be some sort of time-out, but it shouldn't time out anyway whilst transfering . I've tried just dragging and dropping the avi via Windows Explorer, I've tried command prompt, and I've even tried using VirtuaDub to convert directly from the camera and stream it onto the harddrive, but half-way through, still cuts out.

Any ideas guys? I don't have an SD reader, I have to do all the transfering through the camera..

It sounds like the file / card may be corrupt

An external reader is pretty cheap, if the file is important to you it might be worth getting one. I don't like your chances though.

Yeah - try it in an external reader although it could well be down to a bad writing to the SD card, or a cheapo SD card.

It's not a cheap SD card, but I don't think it's corrupt either, it's possible the video was corrupt whilst recording though, it's not that important, it can be re-done.

I think it's just to do with my camera or something, it does fine with pictures and short videos though.

I think you'll find it'll work if you use a seperate card reader or something. I had issues copying big files over to my PDA like >50MB, so I ended up doing it over Wifi eventually and it worked lol

lmao, I don't have a wife, and the video wasn't anything like that at all .

Like I said, wasn't important, can be done again.
