    6600GT AGP Arctic Cooler

    lo,

When building my pc i got some cables stuck in my 6600GT fan and now the fan has completely stopped working and my pc bombs out when the GPU core temp reaches 100C, which happens after about 10-15 minutes of gaming.

Basically i'm looking to get an Arctic Cooler for my 6600GT now to replace the stock fan. However, there are a few technicalities about it:

NV Silencer 6 (Rev. 2) <-- this is the only Arctic Cooler that works with the 6600GT. However, it says it's only the PCIe slot that this cooler works with, which is a problem as i have the AGP version. If you look at the Arctic Cooling compatability charts you can see they don't even acknowledge that the 6600GT comes in an AGP version at all.

So, does anyone know if the NV Silencer 6 (Rev. 2) would actually work with my AGP slot card or whether it's strictly the PCIe slot only?

    thx

ah, just answered my own question really, no the compatability chart page it says:

"NV Silencer Compatibility (on Nvidia boards)
We have no cooler for the 6600GT AGP board."

damn, looks like i need another fan from somewhere... anyone know now where i may be able to buy a replacement fan seperately? as i bought this 2nd hand and don't have the warranty for at afaik.

I think one of the Zalman VF700 series fans will do the job.

There's a caveat for that particular card but if you keep your case free of wires and obstructions it's a good cooler - most Zalman stuff is first-rate if a little awkward to install at times. There's also that goofy-looking IceBerq from Vantec though I've no idea about the noise.

I would check out what Zalman has to offer. They are all variations of the VF700 on that page. There are a few agp 6600gt card which those zalmans will need this extra heatsink. They explain which cards would need that extra heatsink.

thanks very much for your repsonses, i've decided to get the Zalman VF700-Cu GPU Cooler, this comes in a package with 8 of those blue RAM heatsinks Zalman do aswell. However, i cannot find anywhere that sells the extra HSI heatsink in the UK and i'm not sure if the smaller heatsinks would do this job or not.
