M$ Excel masters..
I'm using a simple formular to divide pence by a whole number, so something like: 0.36 divided by 24.
(36p, divided by 24), this answer is 1.5p, but in excel it shows as 0.02.
........... WTF?.
What have I done wrong?, it all works OK in pounds AND pence, just not pence alone :angst:
Any help is greatly apreicated, thanks.
Edit: tbh, i'm probably looking at it wrong, confusing the hell out of me now . I'll post once my mind has cleared up, please try help still though..
Ok, in excel.. I think.. it should display 0.015, which should do, then I'll need to use some sort of if statement to make it display 15p.
god, homework sucks, I can't see the dumb arses in my ICT class been able to do this, especially if i'm struggling

make sure its set to use enough decimal places when displaying number...select relevant cells and click button.
button look something like:
-> .00
also 0.36 is in pound and you want the answer in pence...so change the formula to x100 on the end to convert it :)

Hi, thanks for the reply.
The other calculations on the page are set out as, 4.50, 1.60 etc.
I know the pence is set out as a pound, that's why I added the 0 and a decimal point after, so 0.36 is 36p.
How do I.. "change the formula to x100 on the end to convert it"?
Thanks

select the cell in question and change it to
=100*(your formula)
To set teh number of decimal places right click the cell "format cell" "number" "currency" and set teh number of decimal places you want
-
Format the cell to use currency as the number format...

Sorry for the late reply.
killie99, I tried that but it doesn't seem to actually be changing the number from 0.02 to 0.015? (then I think I can use the format cell > number > currency etc bit.
-
you need to change the number of decimlal places you require: select the cell/cells you want to adjust, right click, "format cell" "number" "currency" and set the number of decimal places you require
-
well if you do change it to currency you will only get 2 decimal places, because there are 100p in a pound.
-
incorrect, you can have more than 2 decimal places when using currency.
-
you *can*, but not as default when you select the option.
