    Faulty Maxtor Fireball 3

    Hey guys,
I've got a faulty maxtor drive which I'm taking care of for a client -
I'm trying to work out how old it is, as it looks like it's had a serious head crash - unfortunately there's some critical data which she needs.
Currently I've got it mounted in an IcyBox, which works fine for most of the data - except her work documents.

Ideally I'll just extract the data, then RMA the drive, but need to know how old it is as it's out of warranty with PCWorld (i.e. it's over a year old, so you're stuffed)

Any ideas, or just call them with the S/N?

    Hi Phil,

Thanks for that - insurance companies are weird. they gave her £700 for a replacement machine - or rather vouchers for another one of the same from PC World. very odd!
