    GFX/Monitor problem

I bought some new PC parts on Saturday... Plugged it all in, turned PC on and installed Windows XP.. Easy...

Then I decided to plug in my Old HDD, DVD drive and some funky lights...
I plugged them in, turned PC on.. and nothing.

There was power going to the mobo/gfx card etc (I know because I heard the fans etc, and saw the lights/lcd screens on mobo) but nothing appeared on the monitor.

I took out all the power leads, and ONLY plugged in the GFX card (its PCI-Express) and the primary HDD.

I thought this should work, because it is now the same as when it worked... But it didn't... Still nothing appears on the monitor..

    Help!

    (7800GTX PCI-E, Fatal1ty Abit AN8, 160 SATA HDD, 550WP PSU)

Are you getting any beeps from the motherboard when you try to boot?
Have you looked at the LED display on the motherboard as it boots, what code does it give?
I had an Abit motherboard two boards ago, if I changed ANYTHING on it, it seemed to NEED me to unplug the power at the wall, remove the BIOS battery AND clear the BIOS before it would boot up.

Remove the gaphics card then boot, if you get beeps then it looks like your graphics card may have a fault. If you still get no beeps, then also remove the RAM. You should get a few long beeps which will show the motherboard & cpu are functioning if not then the other posibilty is that the motherboard may be shorted out somewhere underneath. Remove and refit the motherboard. hope this helps?!
