    You'll probably still need IE for a few sites unfortunately
    e.g my online banking refuses to work in Opera.

    thanks for that cronos...i've just tried my bank online with Opera n it works ...i've not found any problems so far...its performing overall much better than IE...one annoyance is wen u goto your mail from msn im it still uses IE ( least it is till i figure out how to stop it ) ...apart from that all's good...

    Don't forget Windows updates needs IE too. Or at least it used too???

    There is a way of stopping it using i.e. for most stuff, in xp if you go to "set program acces and defaults " in the start menu and have a fiddle with the browser settings you should get it to do what you want, sorry i cant be of more help, i did it ages ago and have since forgotton what i did
