    Laptop Fans

Hello, I have just recieved an Inspiron 2100 Laptop.

The laptop runs fine withe everything working well, the only problem is that every few minutes or so, the fan goes absoutely crazy and is incredibly loud, I tried cleaning it and took quite an amount of dust out but all to no avail.

What I was wondering is that if I am able to change the fan? I have no idea about what I am looking for or if they still make them (as the laptop is around 3 Years Old), so can you buy replacement fans and could anyone send me a link?

Here is a picture of the fan:

Can't offer any specific help, but i think you are looking for a blower instead of a fan

Thanks for the reply, Sorry, I don't have a clue on the dimensions.

It is quite a hassle to take the fan/blower out of the laptop as I already broke one of the screws which hold in the keyboard.

Do I definately need the dimensions? I was hoping the model number may mean something?

It probably is a blower (whatever that is).

Would there be a fan in the laptop aswell? In the manual it is listed as a fan

Just a question of terminology, it does the same job as a fan. You can get the dimensions from this http://www.delta.com.tw/product/cp/d...cfans_main.asp site, although finding a replacement may be difficult, your best bet would be farnell/rs or some other electronics supplier, but it isnt guaranteed to work right, the fan will be spinning up because of the thermal monitoring, so youll need to sort something about temps (removing the pcmcia slot covers usually works wuite well in my experience.)
