Hi Can you ps help me?
I am going to build myself a new PC after Xmas(1st attempt) and have decieded on the Dual Asrock 939 Mobo, but i am a bit concerned on the lack of pci slots (3 i think).As i have a Audigy 2 soundcard and a wireless Lan card and i will need a pci Firewire card (as the Mobo does not have one). So if i want some other component later on will this mean another Mobo upgrade or am i missing something?

Once you've got USB2 most things are covered. At a push if the thing you wanted to add was pci only, you could use a usb wireless card, thereby gaining a slot. How much are you going to use firewire? I thought I'd use mine loads, only used it twice.

More stuff should appear in PCI-e, so you should be able to add things like firewire, extra sata, sound cards possibly, SCSI, etc into the 2nd pci-e slot. Other option is to get the audigy with firewire built in, my platinum zs does and was £50 from creative shop on ebay.

PS my setup is asrock dual sata 2, 9800pro, audigy 2, etc

I can't see musch more being used in a PCI slot either. I have a USB wirelss thing and its pretty good, the advantage is that you could get a long USB extension and put the receiver up on a shelf, rather than have a little ariel at the back of your PC under a desk.

Sorry for late reply,very busy! I do already have a FW on the Audigy 2 but i want a dedicated FW as i do a lot of non linear editing! Also as theres only a few pci slots on this board is there also a chance of my AGP 6800 overheating as ive been told to leave a gap between cards, but saying that i do intend to move on to a pci-e GPU in the future...Hence the reason for this board!

If your worried about overheating just dump the wireless Lan card. USB solution is so cheap and portable. That would leave you space for cooling and then two spare slots when you upgrade to pcix gcard.

I would save up a little longer so ur in a position to get a dedicated PCI-e mobo with alot of the niceties onboard such as firewire then u can get a half decent PCI-e gfx card. Since u r into audio editing wouldnt an x-fi pro be a godsend since the thing is suppose to be the audio equivalent of a cray.
