Urgent help required

Lo lads. Basically the issue im having that my comp just wont connect to the net. It was fine yesterday but today it just says connection unlugged.

I was thinking of doing a windows format but i dont have a disk at the mo, so i was hoping someone could give me some help

Assuming you have tried the usual tricks (check IPCONFIG in the command line, release/renew the IP lease, flushed the DNS cache) you could uninstall the TCP/IP networking, then re-install it. Although in theory you would need the disks, in practice they will be in the system, when the system asks for the location, you just need to do a search in another window, then enter the location.

If you don't follow what I mean - DON'T do it! Get the install disk!

no operation can be performed if the media is disconnected... that what i get if i do ipconfig/renew or release.
I know the cable works and the router. So my only guess is that my fairly new mobo's network card has broken?

I assume u havent inadvertently disabled ur LAN in the bios, I know its a long shot but its easily done. I assume if not then it appears in device manager as all ok and not disabled within the OS. From ur kit ur dont sound like a n00b so Im sure u have checked most things. The only other fing I can think of is do u have the Nvidia hardware fw built into the onboard NIC, if so could it be that it has locked out all traffic somehow?

Lan is all setup in the bios, nothing turned off. Device manager says device is working properly. it is the Nvidia network manger ****. Ok i finally managed to disabled and enable it again and it jsut kept flashing "connected" then not plugged in then "connected" which was a bit of a tease. And ive jsut gone bk to my pc and it suddenly connected.
thing is i havent done anything to it for 24 hours and at 4-56pm is decides to connect..... Why is it so random.
