    x-fi probs plaz help guys

hi every1. i have the x-fi fatality and i want to use my microphone in the front port i have in my 5 1/2 inch bay but although i can get sound through the headphones i get no response from the mic unless its connected to the rear of the soundcard. I have seen posts saying to launch the console and choose line in 2 mic 2 as the input but this doesnt appear in my console or am i looking in the wrong place i dunno but its very annoying so please gimme your suggestions and get this sorted so i can use teamspeak and ventrillo etc

line2/mic2 does not appear in normal volume playback or recording controls either! but i dunno why

and yes i know i spelled plaz instead of pleaz lol

    tried this and failed

ok i tried uninstalling all the creative stuff and started again and updated to the newer drivers on the creative website and now the problem has changed completely. I still dont see line2/mic2 in any menu on my computer but now when i plug the microphone into the front panel i can hear myself through my speakers but no matter how many things i mute it doesnt stop unless i switch the dial on the front panel off ir disconnect the mic. Whats more disturbing is that i now get no sound through my headphones when i connect them to the front panel which makes no sense because they always worked before and the mic jack didnt.

before reinstalling i checked the connections inside my pc and they were fine and now this new problem has happened. dear god im unlucky with these things.

    any help is greatly appreciated

in the record applet in ur sound properties change the select box from 'What U Hear' to 'Microphone'. That should fix the hearing urself but as for the other stuff Im sure someone else with the xfi can offer some help
