    New System Help

    Hi,

I got some new components for xmas and they wont work. I turn the PC on and the power cuts out after ~1 second. I've got the following

    Antec TrueBlue 480w PSU
    AMD Opteron 146
    Asrock DualSata939
    2x40gb HDD
    Radeon 9200
    2x Samsung DVD-RW
    USB2 PCI card
    512mb DDR266

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Also, could I have damaged the components?

    Thanks

Couple of things to try. If you have 2 sticks of ram put one in slot 1 and the other in slot 3. Make sure the CMOS reset jumper is in the parked location. Plug the cpu cooler fan in to the corrrect header, not sure if the board will halt post if it doesnt detect one. Also worth noting thatt he board will reset the cmos if it fails to boot a couple of times.

I'll try the RAM thing now. Couple of questions though. The CMOS reset jumper should be in the reset position or the other one? Also, where is the CPU fan header? I plugged the cpu fan cable into the slot its supposed to go.

try single stick of ram, the cmos jumper should cover the two pins nearest the back of the board (left and middle pin) during normal use. The cpu fan header is between the cpu socket and the back of the case.
