Help With A New Soundcard! Difference Between Audgy 2 + 4

Hi I need some help please! I am thinking of upgrading my sound card (Audigy 2- 5-1 spkrs) to the newer Audigy 4 (7-1 spkrs)! Would i notice that much diffrence in sound when playing games and listening to music and is there any other features that the 4 has over the 2, if so does it warrant the extra cash

From an Audigy 2 to 4 I would say no.

If you were talking about an X-Fi card then perhaps if you are a bit of an audiophile

I'd have to agree with kempez815, except that if you're an audiophile you won't be buying any flavour Audigy

If you feel the need to upgrade something how about getting better speakers eg Logitech Z-5500 £192? Depending on what you have they would give an immediate improvement.

Yeah true but if your that much of an audiophile you'll be fiddling with Valve amps and talking about "the true sound quality of vinyl"

There was a motherboard manufacturer about a year ago that launched a series of motherboards with Valve based audio...

Quite a crazy idea at the time.. but audio buffs often swear how good valves are for audio.

Yeah I've heard a few top-notch systems with Valve amps and its hard to explain the difference. Its...I dunno....smoother, better rounded. Deffo worth a listen if you've never heard one

Hi cheers for the advise guys i will update my 5-1 spkrs (creative inspire 5300)but i will not be spending as much as £192 (Logitech Z-5500) probally £100 max i will see in the sales

Re Valve amps; About 10 yrs ago i listend to a Floyd track on a 'Audio note Ongaku' "i think it was called" and to tell you the truth the music was a lot better than my Technics SUVX amp of the time, but not that much of an improvement to warrant a price of £28000!! And thats for 1 Amp!!

i've got an a&R cambridge a60 amp and it really sounds good, found it outside a house in brighton with a note saying "take me i work in one speaker" on it ...opened it up changed the fuse on the left channel (70p for 10 from maplins !) and hey presto works a treat! wicked sound for my reggae

GOOD ON YA! Its amazing how many people throw away electricals when its only a internal fuse..or plug fuse! I once found 2 T shirt printing presses outside a house and like you changed the fuses and sold em on ebay for £269 & £190 .... But come to think of it they did not have any 'Take me away' Notes stuck on them

You can get the Audigy 4 drivers for the Audigy 2 (don't think I can link to them though I'm afraid) which sound amazing
