    Hard Drive won't Boot

    What I'm using:
    -A Shuttle MN31 mainboard.
-A 120gb Samsung Harddrive (less than a year old).

    Whats not happening:
    - After I've formatted the drive (the slow way), and installed win Xp on it, it will not boot.

What I've already done to try and fix the issue:
    - Adjust the jumper pins to Master /and/ cable set.
    - Try hdd0, hdd1, hdd2, and hdd3 in the bios for booting.
    - My bios is also set to "search all other devices for possible bootness."

Does anyone know whats going wrong?

Have you tried slaving the drive in another comp just to test? Is it detected in the bios?

Go to samsungs site and dl seatools/their hd diagnostics software and see if the drive is borked

No. Unfortuntately I only have 1 PC. I am using an iBook right now..
I think it is detected. When you start up the computer it says "Primary Master: ATA IDE 120gb" or something like that.

Go into the bios, and manually detect the hd(hit enter), then go to hd boot sequence and select first drive/save and see what happens.

You might want to try another ide cable, let us know how you get on.

What actually happens, where does it stall on boot? Can you get into windows in safe mode?

Was the drive the master when you installed XP on it?
