    installation help urgent

    just built my new computer, try to install xp and it goes past the installation stage but when it reboots to go to the next stage it boots from the bios straight to an error message saying error with your boot disk please check your disk past, i dont know how to do this so any help will be appreciated urgent

    Have you made the cd drive the first boot drive in bios, if not then when it re-boots for the installation it wont find the cd drive but the hard drive instead, but I suspect that you have done this

    i get this if i set up only the cd drive as bootable so when it boots at restart to look for you hard drive the bios only reports a cd drive all i did was change back to normal boot with a hard drive

    Left your SATA/RAID floppy in the drive with BIOS set to boot to floppy first?

    If this were the case it should continue Windows setup as the files should have been cached to the hard drive. It'd throw up errors later when it needs the CD again, but if this is immediately after the first part of Windows setup (ie after the blue screen bit and before it goes to GUI install) I would say you have more than 1 hard drive and you have that other hard drive set as the first bootable disk, or you have your Windows drive as a slave to another Master drive which isn't bootable (ie jumpers wrong)
