    turn off problem

My problem is a small one but anoying. When I close down my computer it re-starts just as if I had pressed reset. It means I have to wait until it restarts and then hold the power button in for about 10 seconds so that it closes down.

when does it restart, as soon as you press on the start, turn off comp, shutdown?
Do you get any error message before it restarts?

I used to get that on occasions when windows BSODed (is automatic reboot enabled?), as malice19 said check for error messages on shutdown.

You could check your event log for any errors, personally I'd be looking at a backup and rebuild, as there's almost certainly something deep rooted with this.

I had that on a Gigabyte Mobo 2 years ago, it was a bios problem. Has your mobo got the latest bios ?

    Thanks for the replies all.
It goes through the close down procedure with no error messages but instead of switching off it restarts.
How do I check if automatic reboot is enabled?
