Image brightness shift between scenes on DVD

My problem is a short film I have made and burmed to DVD, exhibits momentary shifts in the image brightness when a dark scene follows a bright scene. (The visual effect is similar to that when your camcorder is set to auto exposure and you pan from a dark scene to a light one, and it takes a moment before the exposure settles down.)

The film is all computer animation so there is no such image brightness shift in the original material.
Is it possible that my software (Ulead Media Studio Pro 6.5) can't adjust fast enough to sudden changes in image brightness when it is burning the CD, or is the problem with my computer hardware?

could it be the PLAYER software/hardware which you are using?

When I run film off the hard disk in my PC I see this problem and also when I play the DVD in DVD player.
Therefore when the move is initially encoded to DVD compatible format , the software (Ulead MediaStudio Pro 6.5 with DVD plug-in) or my PC hardware (2.4GHx P4 with Geforce 5200 card amd 512MB memory) must be responsible for introducing this problem?
