Just found out one of my Hitachi HDD got a pin broken off...10th pin from the left, second row, just next to the empty pin. The pin is still there but only 1/3 long :(
Any easy way to fix it?

there's rumours that if you cut a length of wire to match the missing pin and carefully insert it in the cable that you can make the connection. Never done it myself, but has to be worth a whirl, right?
Yeah, surely that would work? Just snap a pin or something, wedge it in the IDE cable, and it should make the connection? Do you still have the bit that broke off?
Has it snapped off, or just been pushed in ?
If its just been pushed in, some pliers will do the trick :)
Yea it was pushed in, I kinda use my finger to push the pin out and it worked :)
Thanks.
Gotta be more careful with HDDs nowadays...
IDE connectors are prone to pin error, but SATA cables are so crap they don't really hold onto the HDD
