Help me!!! My setup won't work!!

Hey guys,

I have just upgraded my P.C. after knackering the AGP card and now have the following set up :-

Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe Motherboard
NVidea 7800GTX PCI-E Graphics Card
AMD Athlon 64 x2 4400+ CPU+Official Cooler
Corsair 1GB twin 512 pro series RAM Memory
Western Digital 74.3GB 7400rpm Hard Drive
Maxtor 300GB Sata150 Hard Drive
Thermaltake Purepower Butterfly 480W P.S.U.
Thermaltake Harcano 12 Fan Controller
Sony DVD-ROM Drive
Sony DVD-RW Drive
Winfast DTV1000 T DVB-T Tuner Card
Samsung SyncMaster 172w Monitor

This setup doesn't always work and I have to go through the boot menu to get it to work at all, I have windows loaded but I can't get anything else loaded because it now only reboots when it loads up.


Please help.

Aftetr installing new hardware it is best to format the drive and reinstall windows, because of the conflicts with drives and what nots. Come back if you are still having problems

Check the hsf is on correctly, check the ram and cards are correctly inserted, try removing all the drives except the boot drive, if the machine now boots reconnect one at time.

Oh yes and switch the ram modules as this can solve some memory problems

If none of the above works check the your voltages in the bios, I used to have one of those psu's and while it looked nice the voltage stability was crap on the 12v rail. You have a lot of equipment hooked up to it & the rated amps on the 12v rails is pretty weak if I remember right.

Worrying,

Run memtest86, the hard-drive manufacturers diagnostic utility and if they both come up clear, run Prime95 for 8 hours, then you won't need to be using a system that works but you don't know how... you should have full confidence in your setup.
