sound install problem

i have got a oldish packard bell here, all is well with it, but its missing one of the sound devices in the audio section of the device manager.

Now normally this is fine as il just update that part with the drivers, so i go to update it fnids the file in the ac 97 i have dowloaded, but just as it gets to the end the pc shuts down and restarts, the same happens every time.

so i boot up in safe mode, and it works and doesnt restart, then i go to restart in normal mode and it blue screens.. any suggestions as i cba to put a sound card in this old thing...

fixed now, turns out it was some ghey random audio drivers i needed..
