    Help converting video to DVD

    Hello,

I have been tasked with converting some VHS videos to DVD as part of my job.

I ordered a Belkin COmposite/S-video to USB converter as seen HERE.

I also got a Scart to red/white/yellow composite cable and hooked up a VCR to it. I can see the video playing in the software that came with it (Ulead VideoStudio 6 SE DVD), but it is blocky and pixelated, and hardly recogniseable. (Not like JPEG artifaccting, its huge blocks like when you see peoples face pixelated on the news).

Anyone got any experience with video > DVD conversion that could help?

    Cheers

    My System: Coolermaster Centurion 5 (black) case, Intel E6750 Core2Duo, Tagan Easy-Con 530W, Asus P5B Deluxe WIFI, OCZ 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 CL 4-4-4-15 PLATINUM XTC, Samsung SpinPoint 200Gb SATA2 / 2 x Maxtor DiamondMax 10 200Gb SATA, 256Mb Sapphire ATI PCI-E X1950PRO, Creative X-Fi Xtreme 7.1, 19" Daewoo W9ZQ Black Widescreen TFT, 4Mb Virgin Cable Broadband (formerly Blueyonder) with Linksys WRT54GL Wireless-G and DD-WRT firmware.

Not really sure what the problem with that is. Have you checked the settings for bit rate and resolution in VideoStudio?

I haven't used this combination, but have used Ulead MovieFactory with a couple of Lifeview cards.

Is macrovision hardware copy-protection? Could any of you provide a link to these boxes on Maplin?

Its at VCR level, you need to disable it there or get a box to sit between the VCR and the USB stick to strip it out.
