SATA problems
Ive had a problem with my MSI K7N2G-ILSR. I have been using my main drive which is 60GB for XP Media Center 2005, and a Segate barracuda 160GB SATA for about 18 months as a storage drive for recorded TV.I bought an identical one, with the intention of creating a raid array. However after many crashes, i gave up on the idea, and settled for two seperate drives, Now for some reason i cant access either of the drives without the system hanging! detatching one drive has the same problem. I have tried using a different SATA port on the Mobo, but still nothoing, Can anyone help. Im SATA-less at the moment:confused:
Cheers
Matt

Do you get the 'BOOT ERROR" "INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER' when you power up?
I'm having an issue like this with 2 SATA in my system too. I detach my 2nd drive cable and let system see only primary to get into windows and then attach 2nd at login screen. It's becoming common recently. Sometime it takes 4-5 times before it sees the primary. At other times it will see 2nd drive but not first when both are attached on startup screen. My main drive 80gb, and 2nd drive is a seagate 200gb one. Is your main drive a Maxtor by any chance?

If you tried unsuccessfully to set up a RAID array, did you go back into the RAID BIOS and delete the array?
You might also try disabling the RAID BIOS if you plan on running the drives as SATA singles.

I can't see any options in the on-line manual for your board, but I'm assuming the K7N2 Delta 2 LSR BIOS should be pretty similar.
If you download the Delta 2 manual from the following link, it's detailed in page 3-12 & 3-13:
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/suppor...UID=617&kind=1
Hope this helps. If your BIOS is different from the Delta 2 one, I'm afraid I'm out of ideas, as the on-line manual for your board doesn't give any details on the RAID set-up.
