Graphics problems any one help please

Hi all im having graphics problems whist playing some games what happens is that i get green lines on the screen and then my monitor goes into stand by and the only way to fix it is to power off from the main base unit. This happens at random times in games like star wars empire at war. other games work fine and display at the highest display settings.

The card that i have is a Geforce 6800GT i have tried diffrent drivers and the same thing happens the drivers that i have tried are 84.21,82.12,81.98,83.91 i have also tried playing the games at there lowest settings.

    Anyone have any ideas.

sounds like a faulty/unstable card. Have u overclcoked it, and have u looked at the temps during gameplay?

What brand and wattage of power supply are you using? Could it be a power issue? How long have you had the problem - recently, or since you bought the card? It might also be useful for you to post a list of games which display the problem and those that don't

the heat goes up to 65c when idol i have not over clocked it. i have just brought a new psu so that shouldn't be the problem because it has been doing this before i got one as well. the games that crash are star wars empire at war and the new tomb raider demo i have also got the god father but this plays ok.

If it is idling at 65C then it's getting pretty hot whilst actually being used... I'd reckon that's what's causing your problems. As you said it's not overclocked.

Check out the Heatsink and Fan unit. make sure it is securely mounted on the card.

As a suggestion I would take the HS and Fan unit off, get rid of the junk the manufacturer puts down, put some proper thermal compound down and reattach the HS and fan. (Or if you're really adventurous a third party GFX cooler system)

See if that brings the temps down because my gfx card is only clocking in at 40C idle and about 65C at full throttle and thats overclocked!!!
