nvport failing=screws up XP & PC

    Hey there

right i've come across a very large problem with me pc

when i boot up now- i get a window sayin that "because of recent hardware changes,i have to re-register at Microsfot-thats even before i get to my desktop :S

For one- there hasnt been a hadrware change for over 4 months.... i havent tinkered around with any windows settings and i was registered with MS before.....

But-along with this- and it seems to be with nForce chipsets -you get an error in Event viewer saying "The following boot-start orsystem-start driver(s) failed to load:
    nvport"

No i've read about nvport-and all i got with this Nvidia Video encoder-which i dont have installed and never installed it.... now i think it's something to do with the IDE drivers because when i boot up now with these problems- i've only got access to my HDD and CD-RW- nothing else.... not even floppy or ethernet :S

Anyways-my spec is on my spec area

    Any suggestions would be great

    cheers

have you tried running scandisk? i had a similar problem with an ide disk and the security descriptors became corrupted and, like you, i had to re-register windows and some other stuff. scandisk repaired it fine for me
