Asrock 939 sata 2 board and windows install probs.

Have built a a64 socket 939 system based around this asrock board and when trying to install windows it comes up with CRC errors when copying the files. At first I thought this was down to the optical drives or the disk itself so tried diff drive and xp and still no joy. It would allow you to retry and then carry on the install but the drop out with a cyclic error when installing.
Managed to install XP by putting the HDD in another machine and it is prime 95 stable and the temps are fine.
Windows now runs ok but a few foyballs sp* Like firefox crashes when downloading ??? (unrelated?)

Anyone got any ideas what might be causing this kind of behaviour??

    Cheers

Is it the ASRock Dual SATA2 board? Try running the SATA drive on the SATA I controller (will need to set the jumper on the drive to SATA I / SATA 150 first).

Apparently the SATA 2 controller on those boards can be somewhat problematic.

I'm not sure about their other S939 offerings, but it's likely they use the same controller.
