SATA pci card problem
Been trying to put together a lil server for myself over the last day or so, had lots of problems with a dodgy psu / ram and now that i've got that sorted i've come accross another one.
If i install the pci sata card (MRI sata card 4ch) the machine will post, check for a bootable cd then go to a black screen. If i remove the card then windows boots no problem. Its a Biostar M7NCG400 motherboard with a stick of geil value 512mb and an xp1700. It doesn't make a difference if the sata hdd's are plugged in or not, as long as the card is inserted the machine will not boot.
Im not using a cd drive, and i have a maxtor 160gb ide drive on ide primary master with XP installed.
Any ideas guys? I thought it might of been a boot priority problem so i changed the boot order around, it only has the hdd in there now and the other options are disabled.

Did you try put the card in another slot?

you don't want it set to boot off the HDD if you are using an addin card, HDD will look for disks only on the internal channels. It will depend on your BIOS somewhat, and i'm kind of hoping you can select 'bootable add in' devices or SCSI or something like that...
