2.7 is fairly impressive already and no CPU is a guaranteed clockers so i doubt i'd go much higher. But try give it more juice ? better cooling ?

    Hello mate,

I have an opty 144 also and although I have got to windows at 2900mhz, its not interested in going any higher and was certainly far from stable at 2900. What motherboard do you have? My KN8 doesn't seem to like 334fsb no matter what I drop the multi to and this would be the magical 3ghz +at 9x

DFI's & MSI's have the best chance of hitting 334. Keep an eye on temps as bad IHS contact seriously limited my overclock with my 144. My 146 has the same problem

Hello mate - Do tell me how!! How have you got your KN8 to that fsb? Mine won't have anything above 320 odd and it certainly wont run stable. Can you tell me what your settings are mate?

Edit : Is that stable at that speed?

sorry to thread trash but would u recommend putting my 3700 down to x 9 or 10 first before clocking? and insrease the HTT Higher?

Lol completely off topic with that one mate Lowering the multi will enable you to find the (i dont know the correct term, but in old motherboard terms) FSB limit of your motherboard/ram etc.

No, the higher multi means you need a lower HTT and thus less strain on the CPU. It's best to take advantage of the 11x multi imo.

Well more it means you strain the rest of the sytem less to get the cpu to a figure - say 3ghz or whatever. (less mhz needed on ram and motherboard chipset etc)

My CPU is a recent one 0602. Forgot the stepping. It is rock stable at that speed, the HT is on 3X and the memory on a 14 divider, running effectively in dual channel at 209 MHz.

I have been running it like this for the last 6 weeks almost 24/7. Prime Stable for 6 hours.

To reduce the fan noise now, I run CrystalCPUID with a 4x multiplier at 1.0V.
At full load, it gets to 52-54C.

Hello mate- So all you've done is to drop the HTT to 3x and the memory to 266 to get your 14 divider? No other settings changed at all?

Nothing else (except throw 1.5V at it), but the previous opteron I had maxed out at 280 FSB. The 06 batch seems better.

I'm guessing it'll be a CACJE, great stepping for both the 144s and 146s.
