    Unhappy A8N32-SLI Deluxe wont boot

    Hi

    Nice forum you got here

Wonder if someone can help .. I have just put together a new system and tried to boot ... I get the processor fan, case fans and motherboard LED lighting uip .. but nothing more.

Tried reducing it to: no disks. 1 stick of mem, and removed the gfx card. Still no joy.
I checked connections and everything seems to be ok.

I installed a Zalman CNPS9500 CPU fan (which works ok) .. havent tried motherboard without CPU or mem yet mainly cos its a hassle taking the fan + heatsink off with the thermal paste etc.

Any pointers / tips / things I may have not checked properly or at all ... would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks
    Adam.

Does the board stay on when you power-on, or do the fans spin down/board powers down straight away?

Yeah a CMOS reset should sort it.

Hmmm .. just tried a CMOS reset .. still no joy

Are there any dodgy connections that can cause boot failure?
Also wonder if its worth trying to power up the motherboard with no CPU?

    Cheers

You got both power connectors in there? (the 24 pin one and also the 4 pin near the CPU socket? Does sound like a power connector problem....

The next suspect would be the ram.

Does it fully work with another graphics card?

When unlikely it would be the CPU.

I know this is going to be pain, put you'll going to have to rule out each component one by one.....

Try powering on with no ram installed, it should def beep then. Also try plugging in your speakers as your board should have voice announced error reporting which might help

I've got a similar board - A8N Sli Premium - and had a few troubles during the build.

    1. The 24pin ATX was plugged in but not "clicked" in. Same with the 4pin power connector near the CPU socket. Make sure the leads aren't overly stretched.

    2. Then I moved onto the RAM. It turned out one of the sticks of RAM was faulty - I had 2 dimms plugged into A1 and B1 and the B1 DIMM was causing errors, although the PC would post.

If youre definitely sure its not a power connector problem, you should definitely check the ram. Use one module initially - make sure its in the right slot - you should check the manual - but I think it goes in slot A1 (the one nearest the CPU). Is the DIMM clicked in properly, so that the white plastic motherboard lugs are in the notches/cut outs on the DIMM PCB?

Borrow some ram from someone who knows the ram is definitely working, and try that.

    Same with the graphics card.

Double check everything is seated and plugged in properly including the CPU.

If all that doesn't show anything, then Google for any compatibility problems with the mobo and the ram you're using - the Premium that I have is very picky about the brand/manufacturer of the ram.

What brand hard drive(s) and are they SATA2? There's a compatibility issue with some of them I've found.

Took all memory out, checked audio output - got 1 beep followed by 2 short beeps, repeating.

    Checked out here: http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm

Looks like a video card prob - likely, as I got a cheap OEM thing off eBay...

Strange though dont get any beeps with memory in, so dont know if mem is incompatible...???
