    Dvd-ram

Olla peeps, having troubles with mini dvd-ram discs which my new dvd cam uses. The problem is my pc does not understand the disc at all and upon inserting one of these makes the desktop freeze. If it should acknowlege the disc it says it's empty. Now the thing is a friend recently bought a new acer travel mate laptop, which reads the discs fine and played the movies in power dvd lovely. My dvd player is new which suprised me that it wouldnt play these discs

    Any ideas?

Strange... It's supposed to support DVD-RAM and so you shouldn't have a problem... Historically of course not many drives have supported DVD-RAM until very recently (LG drives have been able to use all formats inc. DVD-RAM for a long while). Can you write to a blank mini DVD-RAM (data)?

Of course it could be down to the fact that these are the mini versions instead of the normal sized DVD's. In which case find out what make your friends laptop DVD drive is...

I think it may be a problem with the mini DVD-RAMs as my Sony also has a lot of problems recognising them, yet will work fine with a standard DVD-RAM.

well today after getting mighty peed off I took it back and had it swapped for a Mini DV Sony handy cam which was £70 more, at no extra cost! yeppee and I got a free tastey sony carry case worth quite a bit too. The advantage with this cam is also the Digital out from the docking station it comes with not to mention the remote which may come in handy for home porno productions....um no

As for the dvd-ram problem I am working on that still but I shall update when I find the solution
